Main price factors
- Dimensions, shape and quantity: standard or bespoke size, round, rectangular or another version.
- Material and build-up: acrylic, polycarbonate, layer count or TOPtermo; clear or opal layers.
- Upstand: new or existing, material, height, insulation and roof junction.
- Opening: fixed, manual or powered ventilation, roof access, or smoke and heat exhaust.
- Accessories: controls, weather sensor, safety mesh and other agreed options.
- Work on site: access, dismantling, installation, connections and agreed roofing finishes.
For replacement, check the existing upstand
Before replacing only the top section, confirm the dimensions, upstand condition, fixings and compatibility of the new dome. Photographs help with an initial estimate but do not replace verification of measurements and condition before manufacture. If the roof is being refurbished, also state any planned additional insulation.
How do you compare two quotations?
Check that both cover the same material, layer build-up and dimensions. Then compare the upstand, drives, controls, safety equipment, transport and installation. Check the scope of electrical work, roofing finishes and removal of old elements separately. Ask for a clear list of inclusions and exclusions, and whether VAT is included.
Why is there no universal “from” price?
Without a defined configuration and scope, such a figure could be misleading. We prepare a quotation from your project details, not from one photograph of a similar dome.
Details for an initial estimate
Send the location, quantity, measurements with labelled measuring points, photographs, room use and required opening. State whether you need supply only, a new-build installation or replacement with installation, and give your preferred approximate timeframe.
